Shmuel Bacharach, Z”L
5718 – 5776
Shmuel Bacharach, Z”L, was a symbol and example of a man who dedicated the best of his years, with all his heart, to the important mission of “Chesed Shel Emet”. He was one of the first volunteers of the ZAKA organization and saw this as a true mission carried out with his own heart and soul, out of an understanding of the magnitude of the mission and the fact that there was no one else who would do it in his place.
Shmuel was a man of suffering, faced various health conditions throughout his life and despite everything, he did not leave his guard, continued to be a loyal and dedicated member of the organization and as soon as he could, he took on tasks, went to events and provided assistance at any time and at any hour. Even in his last years, when he was overcome by suffering, he continued to attend the organization’s trainings and activities in which he could participate. I am a friend to all who see you – he said.
Shmuel z”l was born to his father, Rabbi Avraham Bachrach z”l and his mother, Mrs. Hanna ah of Petach Tikva. When he reached his end, he married his wife, who will live, the daughter of Rabbi Aharon Goldman z”l of Ben Zakkai Street in Bnei Brak.
In Bnei Brak, Rabbi Shmuel was known as one of the people of kindness in the city. He was one of the first volunteers at ZAKA over thirty years ago, and was involved in public needs in faith throughout his life.
Upon his passing, the ZAKA organization issued a statement of condolence: “A unique grief, a great sorrow to you. With great sorrow, we announce the passing of one and only of the group, a true charity in his body, who was devoted in heart and soul to the mission of “charity of truth,” one of the first volunteers and the living spirit of the organization, Rabbi Shmuel Bacharach, the late, who was purified in suffering and passed away today, a holy Sabbath, at the age of only 68 years. We send our sincere condolences to the family members of the ZAKA. The organization’s management and volunteers embrace and accompany the family in their difficult time.”
During the days of mourning, many came to comfort the family members of the ZAKA organization, and many stories about his modesty and invisible acts of kindness that he performed during his lifetime were revealed by the comforters. The late Shmuel always walked by the roadside, did not ask for anything in return or honor, and in his spare time, he saw a corridor in front of the lounge. He was always grateful for what he had, and the name of heaven was always on his lips. He was kind to everyone, was always available for any task and did not spare his honor. He was in the most difficult scenes during the years of the difficult attacks, and is remembered for being one of the first to arrive and the last to leave the scene until he saw that everything was taken care of for the best. His passing is a hard blow, and shocked the volunteers of the ZAKA organization, who mourned his passing. Shmuel will forever be remembered in the hearts of the volunteers.
