"

At the time of writing these words, we are concluding 25 years' work at ZAKA Tel Aviv. It is hard to focus on just one area where we stand out, since over a 25-year period, we have been doing the most difficult work, requiring infinite mental strength, dedication, personal and family sacrifice, volunteering around the clock for no compensation, not knowing what may come and what disaster lies ahead that would pull you out of your home, whatever you are doing. We can only find comfort in the words of Rashi on the verse "You will show me kindness and faithfulness" - "Kindness shown to the deceased is true kindness that is not rewarded".
The years go by and our work expands, in True Charity - in Israel and around the world, "Brothers in Need" charity, the Jeep Unit, the Divers Unit, among others. Suffice it to mention the Organization's assistance during the COVID pandemic, transporting around three thousand deceased persons so far. This is yet another proof that this Organization can manage disasters on a national scale.
At any given moment, volunteers of the Organization carry out an impossible task, supporting families in their grief, transporting lonely or indigent deceased persons, collecting medicine and nursing items for those in need, search for missing persons, and ensure the dignity of the deceased and the living in many ways. All is done quietly and modestly, as this work commands, because in the moment of truth we are there!
